Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State has approved the immediate dissolution of the State Executive Council, bringing an end to the tenure of all serving commissioners.

The governor also directed the affected officials to hand over the affairs of their respective ministries to permanent secretaries no later than Friday, April 3, 2026.

The directive was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday by the Secretary to the State Government, Bukar Tijani. According to the statement, the move is intended to create room for any council member interested in contesting elective positions in the upcoming general elections.

“The decision is to provide an enabling environment for any member of the council who may wish to contest elective positions in the forthcoming general elections,” the statement noted.

Governor Zulum, while announcing the decision, expressed appreciation to the outgoing commissioners for their service, dedication, and contributions to the development of the state.

He acknowledged their role in advancing governance and improving the welfare of the people, wishing them well in their future endeavours.
