Mohamed Salah has confirmed he will leave Liverpool FC at the end of the 2025/26 season, bringing an emotional close to his celebrated spell at Anfield.

The Egyptian forward made the announcement in a heartfelt video shared on social media, describing his departure as a difficult but inevitable decision.

“Unfortunately, the day has come… I will be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season,” Salah said, expressing deep gratitude to the club, the city, and its supporters.

End of an era at Anfield

Shortly after the announcement, Liverpool released an official statement confirming that both parties had agreed to part ways, ending what will be a remarkable nine-year journey.

The club noted that Salah chose to inform fans early out of respect and appreciation, while also stressing that the forward remains focused on finishing the season strongly.

Despite signing a contract extension last year reportedly running until 2027, speculation about his future had intensified in recent months, amid a challenging campaign and reported tensions with manager Arne Slot.

A legendary Liverpool career

Since joining from AS Roma in 2017, Salah has established himself as one of the greatest players in Premier League history, winning multiple trophies including league titles, domestic cups, and a UEFA Champions League crown.

His goalscoring exploits and consistency have made him a fan favourite and a central figure in Liverpool’s modern success.

What next for Salah?

While Salah has not revealed his next destination, he has been strongly linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League, with clubs in the Middle East reportedly keen on securing his signature. A switch to Major League Soccer has also been mentioned as a possibility.

With the season still ongoing, Salah could yet add more silverware to his collection before bidding farewell to Anfield in what promises to be an emotional send-off.
