The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has unveiled a new Digital Certificate Services System, known as WAEC DigiCert, across its five member countries — Nigeria, Ghana, The Gambia, Liberia and Sierra Leone.

The launch was announced in a statement released on Monday by the Head of Public Affairs at WAEC Headquarters in Accra, Demianus Ojijeogu, on behalf of the Registrar.

According to the Council, WAEC DigiCert is a web and mobile-based application designed to make certificate access easier and more efficient for candidates and other stakeholders. The platform allows users to request, confirm, share and securely access digital versions of their original certificates. Candidates who have misplaced their examination numbers can also retrieve them through the system.

WAEC assured the public that the platform is secure and reliable, stressing that the authenticity of certificates obtained through the system is guaranteed. It added that the new service would significantly reduce the delays and bottlenecks often associated with manual certificate processing.

The Council revealed that the platform was first piloted in Nigeria, where it received positive feedback from candidates and educational institutions both locally and internationally. Based on the success of that trial phase, the system has now been extended to all five member countries.

While encouraging candidates and institutions to embrace the innovation, WAEC clarified that the traditional printing and physical issuance of certificates will continue alongside the digital service.

The WAEC DigiCert mobile app is available for download on both the App Store and Google Play Store for iOS and Android users. More information can also be accessed via the Council’s official website and social media platforms.

In a related development, WAEC also announced the release of the 2025 Second Series Computer-Based West African Senior School Certificate Examination results for private candidates. Candidates are advised to check their results through the official results portal before proceeding to the digital certificate platform to obtain their released certificate copies.
