A former lawmaker contesting for Ekiti North Senatorial District, Sen. Ayo Arise has said he is the most qualified candidate to represent his people and bring dividends of democracy to them.
Arise disclosed this in an interview with journalists on Monday in Oye-Ekiti.
The former senator said he has witnessed some tremendous strive in Ekiti Central in times of development in the last three years which Ekiti North Senatorial district has not witnessed.
He said his determination to seek re-election to the Senate was as a result of lack of development in Ekiti North Senatorial district since he left the position in 2011.
Arise explained that while he was in Senate, he worked hard to ensure that his community developed and the welfare of his people were given priority.
According to him, the establishment of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) was one of his major giant achievements made during his tenure while he was representing his people.
” It is quite unfortunate that since I left the Senate in 2011 , Ekiti north senatorial district has not witnessed any meaningful development.
“I have witnessed tremendous strive in Ekiti Central in times of development in the last three years but nothing has been done in Ekiti North.
” While I was in the Senate, I work hard to ensure that my community develop and it is as a result of my tremendous work that give birth to FUOYE.
” This university has improved the economy of our communities and Ekiti state whereby indigenes, students, traders , market women, landlords were all enjoying dividends of democracy”, he said.
Arise noted that he would not tolerate any form of consensus candidate who have done nothing for his people than to stagnate the development of Ekiti North Senatorial district.
” I heard that some individuals are saying that Sen. Cyril Fasuyi is the candidate that the process has brought out.
” I don’t know what is called process , I don’t know why one or two people we determine who will represent us in Ekiti North Senatorial district
” If I may ask what is the contribution of these people to the development of Ekiti state as a whole, let them come out and tell us.
” Why will they be pushing someone we do not trust and has done nothing for us and say he is the right candidate for us.
“Let the party bring somebody as competent like the Senate Leader, Sen. Opeyemi Bamidele to Ekiti north, we will vote for him.
“As we speak today, I am the most qualified candidate running for the Senate seat in Ekiti north and nothing is going to change it,” he said
Arise, advised his people to be resolute and steadfast in their support for his candidacy.
The former lawmaker promised to fight to represent them and add lot of value to what the All Progressive Congress (APC) have achieved in Ekiti North Senatorial District.
