Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, has urged residents not to be anxious about his chances in the 2027 governorship election, stressing that political power ultimately comes from God.
Otti gave the assurance on Saturday during a service at the Unity Chapel inside the Government House in Umuahia, where he encouraged the people to remain calm and hopeful about the state’s future.
According to him, there is no reason for fear or uncertainty, as no human effort can override divine will.
“I want to assure everyone that there is no need to panic. Power belongs to God, and He gives it to whoever He chooses. No matter the number of people involved, nothing can change what God has already decided,” the governor said.
He added that just as people cannot influence outcomes outside God’s will, they also cannot help anyone whom God has not chosen, describing his leadership as part of a “divine mission.”
Otti, however, acknowledged that challenges may arise along the way, noting that difficulties are part of the journey but should not shake the people’s confidence.
In his sermon, Pastor Kennedy Iheoma of the Aba North Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church reinforced the message, saying that anyone on a divine assignment cannot be stopped, regardless of opposition.
Drawing from the biblical account of Apostle Paul, the cleric said even life-threatening challenges cannot derail a God-ordained mission.
He further encouraged the governor to stay focused despite obstacles, adding that his administration has already brought hope and positive change to many residents across the state.
