The National Association of Osun State Students (NAOSS) has applauded the Chairman of Ede South Local Government Area, Hon. Lukman Afolabi, for celebrating Abdulsalam Gbolahan of Agbonran School of Science, Ede, who emerged as the overall best student in the council area in the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination.
NAOSS President, Ajibola Lateef Folajimmy, described the chairman’s recognition of the student as a commendable step toward encouraging academic excellence and motivating young people across the state.
The commendation followed the Imole SSCE Scholarship Award Ceremony organised by Electronic Collections Group at the Olagunsoye Oyinlola Hall of Osun State University.
In a statement, Folajimmy said the gesture by the council chairman demonstrates the importance of rewarding excellence and supporting students who distinguish themselves academically.
According to him, recognising brilliant students would inspire others to remain focused on their studies and contribute positively to society.
“Hon. Afolabi has shown leadership by appreciating and celebrating academic excellence. This kind of encouragement will motivate students to work harder and believe in the value of education,” he stated.
The NAOSS president also called on other local government chairmen and political leaders across Osun State to emulate the initiative by supporting outstanding students and investing more in education.
He noted that such efforts would complement the educational policies of Governor Ademola Adeleke and further promote academic development in the state.
Folajimmy further congratulated Abdulsalam Gbolahan on his achievement, describing him as a shining example for youths across Osun State.
