Student leaders in Egbedore Local Government under the aegis of the Federation of Egbedore Local Government Students Association have reaffirmed their support for the Executive Chairman of Egbedore Local Government, Hon. Issa Akinwale, and the gubernatorial aspiration of the All Progressives Congress candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, ahead of the 2026 Osun governorship election.

The students made their position known during a stakeholders’ meeting held in Egbedore Local Government Secretariat, where they pledged to strengthen student participation in political and developmental activities within the council area.

Speaking during the meeting, Comrade Yusuf Moshood commended Hon. Issa Akinwale for what he described as the chairman’s unwavering support for the student community and youth-related initiatives in the local government.

He noted that the students’ body identified with the leadership style and achievements of the chairman, stressing that his administration had consistently shown commitment to the welfare and growth of students in Egbedore.

“We appreciate the Executive Chairman of Egbedore Local Government, Hon. Issa Akinwale, for his continuous support for the student movement.

We identify with your administration and acknowledge the good work you have done for students and youths in the local government,” he said.

Also speaking, Comrade Akintayo Oyegoke reaffirmed the readiness of the student structure to work closely with the local government chairman and support the APC ahead of the 2026 governorship election.

He emphasised the importance of political participation and unionism among students, noting that many Nigerian students were already benefitting from the administration of President Bola Tinubu through the Nigerian Education Loan Fund initiative.

According to him, the benefits being enjoyed by students under the current administration were part of the reasons the students’ body decided to mobilise support for the continuity of the APC in Osun State.

“All Nigerian students are benefitting directly from the administration of President Bola Tinubu through NELFUND, and that is why we are putting this structure together to support the continuity of the APC,” he stated.

Oyegoke further disclosed plans by the students’ association to establish a media team that would help publicise the achievements and activities of the Egbedore Local Government administration.

He added that the association was also working towards setting up a mobilisation team that would actively support government programmes and political activities within the local government.

In his response, the Executive Chairman of Egbedore Local Government, Hon. Issa Akinwale, appreciated the student leaders for their commitment and innovative ideas aimed at strengthening political engagement and grassroots mobilisation.

The chairman described the initiative as a welcome development that would further enhance political participation among youths and contribute to the success of the APC and the AMBO project ahead of the 2026 governorship election.

Hon. Akinwale also assured the students of his continued support for the student constituency, promising to sustain policies and programmes that would positively impact young people across the local government.
