The National Association of Nigerian Colleges of Education Students (NANCES), Osun State Axis, has officially endorsed the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Munirudeen Oyebamiji (AMBO), ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election in Osun State.

The endorsement was announced by the Chairman of NANCES in Osun State, Comrade Ayanwole Kehinde Ayantayo, during an address delivered before party leaders, student stakeholders, members of the press, and other attendees.

Declaring support for the APC candidate, the student body said its decision followed what it described as a careful assessment of the political landscape, candidates’ policy directions, and leadership records.

According to Ayantayo, NANCES identified Oyebamiji as a candidate whose experience and administrative background align with the aspirations of students and young people in the state.

The association highlighted education, youth development, and public service experience as major reasons behind the endorsement.

Speaking on education, the student leader stated that Oyebamiji’s previous experience as Commissioner for Finance positioned him as someone who understands the funding and development needs of tertiary institutions.

“NANCES believes improving student welfare, strengthening educational infrastructure, and promoting stability within academic calendars remain key priorities for the future of education in Osun State,” he said.

The student group also described the APC candidate as a supporter of youth participation in governance and economic development, noting his public comments encouraging young people to engage constructively in the democratic process.

Ayantayo further referenced Oyebamiji’s record in public administration, including his previous roles in government and public institutions, which he said reflected accountability and commitment to service.

The association subsequently declared its formal endorsement of Oyebamiji and pledged to mobilise student support across colleges of education in the state.

As part of its mobilisation strategy, NANCES called on students across Osun State to obtain and safeguard their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), participate peacefully in the electoral process, and engage fellow students through issue-based campaigns.

The student body also urged its members to conduct campaigns peacefully across campuses and communities ahead of the governorship election.

The Osun governorship election is scheduled to hold on August 15, 2026.
