The National Association of Osun State Students (NAOSS) has condemned the recent attack on the Osogbo Local Government Chairman of the Accord Party, Hon. Asimiyu Ajibola, popularly known as Baba Isilar, describing the incident as a threat to peace and democracy in Osun State.

In a statement issued on Friday by the National President of the association, Comrade Ajibola Lateef Folajimmy, popularly known as Collabo, NAOSS described the attack as barbaric, unlawful and unacceptable.

The student body expressed concern over what it termed the growing rate of insecurity and politically motivated violence in society, stressing that political disagreements should never degenerate into violence, intimidation or bloodshed.

According to the statement, the attack poses a serious danger to the security of lives and property and could undermine the peaceful atmosphere enjoyed in the state.

NAOSS called on the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies to launch a comprehensive investigation into the incident and ensure that those responsible, including any sponsors of the attack, are identified and prosecuted in accordance with the law.

The association also urged political actors, youth groups and supporters of various political parties to embrace dialogue, tolerance and democratic principles in resolving differences.

“Osun State must remain a peaceful environment where citizens can freely participate in political and social activities without fear of harassment, intimidation or attack,” the statement noted.

NAOSS further expressed solidarity with Hon. Asimiyu Ajibola, his family, political associates and supporters, while wishing him safety, strength and a speedy recovery from the traumatic experience.
