Simiat Olanike Jimoh has made history at the Federal University of Health Sciences Ila-Orangun as the first professor and the first woman to deliver an inaugural lecture in the institution.
The landmark event, held at the university Pavilion in Ila-Orangun, marked a significant milestone in the school’s academic development.
Delivering the maiden lecture, Prof. Jimoh, of the Department of Microbiology, presented a thought-provoking topic titled “Fermenting the Future: Harnessing Microbial Metabolism for Sustainable Biotechnological Innovations.” Her lecture highlighted the growing importance of microorganisms in driving sustainable solutions across biotechnology, health, and industrial applications.
The memorable event was chaired by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Akeem Olawale Lasisi, alongside other top university officials, staff, and invited guests.
The guest present at the academic event includes Orangun of Ila, Oba Wahab Kayode Adedeji Oyedotun, Orangun of Okeila, Oba (Dr) Adedokun Abolarin, Onipee of Ipee, Oba Adebayo Lawal, alongside former vice-chancellors, academics, family members, and well-wishers.
