The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Ede North State Constituency in the Osun State House of Assembly, Hon. Mansur Oladimeji Tijani (MOTIJ), has intensified grassroots mobilisation for the party’s governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
The mobilisation was carried out through a three-day MOTIJ Tripartite Grassroots Engagement for AMBO, which targeted women, youths, students and commercial motorcycle operators across Ede North Local Government Area.
The programme, themed around mobilising the people of Ede North for AMBO’s victory, brought together party leaders, market women, youth and student representatives, as well as commercial transport operators.
The first phase was held on Tuesday, July 28, at the APC Party Secretariat, Oke Gada, and focused on the Ede North Iyaloja-in-Council and women stakeholders.
The engagement attracted ward women leaders, unit representatives and market women, who were encouraged to take the AMBO campaign message to their communities and polling units.
Campaign posters were distributed to participants, with a target of reaching at least 1,000 households across the local government through grassroots and door-to-door mobilisation.
The second phase, held on Friday, August 7, focused on youths and students. The session brought together the Ede North Local Government Youth Leader, Comrade Isiaq; the Students’ Union Government (SUG) President of the Federal Polytechnic, Ede, Comrade Shurdman; and indigenous student stakeholders from the local government.
The youth and student participants also received campaign materials and were encouraged to engage residents within their homes and communities, with a similar target of reaching 1,000 households.
The final phase of the programme, held on Sunday, August 9, focused on commercial motorcycle riders and private motorcycle owners.
Hundreds of riders received free fuel packages during the engagement, while beneficiaries expressed appreciation to MOTIJ and pledged their support for Oyebamiji ahead of the election.
The three-day programme attracted various APC leaders, including the party’s Ede Apex Leader, popularly known as Baba Royal, local government party leaders, the Osun West Senatorial District Woman Leader, State APC Youth Leader, Osun West Senatorial Youth Leader and the Executive Chairman of Ede North Local Government.
The organisers said the initiative was designed to convert political support into coordinated grassroots engagement across wards, polling units and communities.
They expressed confidence that the mobilisation of women, youths, students and transport operators would strengthen the APC’s grassroots structure in Ede North and boost Oyebamiji’s campaign ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
