The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company has announced the appointment of Mr. Deolu Ijose as its new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, following a recent shake-up and reconstitution of its Board of Directors.

Ijose takes over from Engr. Francis Agoha and is expected to steer the company through a critical phase in Nigeria’s evolving power sector.

He brings with him a wealth of experience, having previously served as Managing Director of the Benin Electricity Distribution Company and as Chief Commercial Officer at IBEDC. His familiarity with the company’s operations is seen as a key advantage in sustaining ongoing reforms and ensuring stability.

The IBEDC Board expressed strong confidence in his leadership, noting that his expertise would help consolidate existing achievements while improving both operational efficiency and commercial performance.

In his reaction, Ijose described his appointment as a privilege and pledged to build on the company’s current foundation. He emphasised plans to prioritise efficiency, strengthen internal processes, and deliver better service to customers.

He also highlighted teamwork, accountability, and excellence as core values that would guide the company under his leadership.

The appointment, according to the company, underscores its commitment to improving electricity supply, deepening stakeholder engagement, investing in infrastructure, and leveraging technology to provide more reliable services to customers and support Nigeria’s broader economic growth.
