The Independent National Electoral Commission has formally recognised a faction of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party aligned with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
The development was reflected on INEC’s official website on Monday, where the commission published an updated list of the party’s national leadership.
New Leadership Emerges
Among those listed are Abdulrahman Mohammed as National Chairman and Samuel Anyanwu as National Secretary, alongside other members of the party’s top hierarchy.
Both men emerged at the PDP National Convention held on Sunday night at the Velodrome of the MKO Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.
The convention also saw members of the NWC re-elected by consensus following the dissolution of the party’s national caretaker committee.

By listing the Wike-backed leadership on its platform, INEC has effectively given official standing to the faction, a move that could shape the party’s direction in the coming months.
