The National Association of Osun State Students (NAOSS) has commended Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, for the ongoing remodelling of the Osogbo Township Stadium, describing the initiative as a significant step toward revitalising sports development in the state.

In a statement signed by the president of the association, Comr Ajibola Lateef Folajimmy (Collabo), the student body praised the governor’s commitment to improving sporting infrastructure, noting that the project reflects a forward-thinking approach to youth development and engagement.

NAOSS stated that the upgrade of the stadium would not only enhance the state’s capacity to host major sporting events but also provide a conducive environment for young athletes to train and showcase their talents.

“The planned expansion of the stadium’s seating capacity from 4,000 to 15,000 would place Osun in a stronger position to attract both national and international competitions.

We are also believed that the remodelling project would meet global standards, including those set by FIFA, thereby elevating the state’s profile in the sporting sector, the statement added.”

The students’ body added that beyond infrastructure, the initiative would create opportunities for youth empowerment, job creation, and economic growth within the state.

While urging the government to sustain the momentum, NAOSS also called for continued investment in sports programmes, talent discovery, and grassroots development to maximise the benefits of the upgraded facility.

The association reaffirmed its support for policies and projects that promote youth advancement, stressing that the stadium project stands as a symbol of progress and renewed hope for young people across Osun State.
